Founded in 1978 by Pierre Benac, the SCOMO Group was established through the merger of two machine-tool trading companies, each with a strong technical identity, and two companies specializing in maintenance and machine-tool rebuilding.
Today, SCOMO offers a comprehensive and expanded range of products, together with a wide portfolio of complementary and related services..
Key Milestones
1978
SCOMO founded by Pierre BENAC.
At the time, the company had three employees, including its founder.1985
Exclusive partnership in southwestern France with Japanese CNC machining and turning centre manufacturer MORI SEIKI.
1992
Construction and relocation to a modern 3,000 m² facility in Toulouse. The company is still based at this site, which has since been expanded by an additional 1,000 m², located at the foot of the AIRBUS facilities and in close proximity to Toulouse Airport.
2000
Partnership with EUSIMETALL, a Brive-based company specializing in machine rebuilding, maintenance and plant relocation.
2008
Acquisition of SUD MO Service, based in Pau.
2008
Acquisition of TEYSSOU RHÔNE-ALPES, based in Lyon.
2011
After 30 years of collaboration, SCOMO and MORI SEIKI ended their partnership following structural changes to the manufacturer’s distribution model. SCOMO then became the exclusive distributor in southwestern France for South Korean manufacturer DOOSAN MACHINE TOOLS. In its first year, DOOSAN MACHINE TOOLS recorded sales growth of more than 100% in SCOMO’s territory. Since then, SCOMO has become the exclusive distributor for DOOSAN MACHINE TOOLS across seven regions in France, selling more than 800 machines as of December 2022.
2013
DOOSAN entrusts SCOMO with the **exclusive representation of the Brittany and Vendée regions.
2014
Acquisition of ATEMO, based in Savigny-sur-Orge (Greater Paris), the exclusive distributor in France for BRETON, a manufacturer of high-performance machinery.
2015
Exclusive partnership agreement with DENER, a manufacturer of press brakes and guillotine shears, for the entire French market.
2019
Pierre BENAC hands over the management of the company to his two daughters, Emmanuelle and Corine.
2020
SCOMO unveils a new logo and introduces a new tagline that reflects its DNA: “Service at the heart of everything we do.”
2021
Merger of ATEMO and SCOMO
2022
Exclusive partnership agreements with two prestigious brands: CAZENEUVE, a French manufacturer of CNC lathes, and ZAYER, a Spanish manufacturer of large-capacity milling machines.
