Dynamic 5-axis vertical gantry machining centre with a modular structure

The wide range of structural combinations available means the machine can be configured to suit the working envelope you need. Its technical specification makes it ideal for high-speed precision machining of components with complex three-dimensional shapes in light alloy, resin or composite materials.

Heads compatible with Eagle:

Ghibli

Ghibli HD

Hornet

Designed with a double offset of the spindle axis, the Hornet head optimises accessibility and precision.

The Eagle is built entirely from electro-welded steel and dimensioned using finite element analysis to reduce vibration and limit twisting. This approach meets the demand for dimensional modularity from machine users, allowing Breton to customise the standard product easily in line with market requirements.

The Eagle is a high-column gantry machining centre with a balanced vertical axis and heads of symmetrical construction, ensuring uniform thermal expansion.

The Eagle's thermosymmetric design reduces structural deformation and makes it easy to compensate for through software. The points where heat is generated (such as the head, the A axis and the electrospindle) are cooled to limit heat transfer to other parts of the structure.

The carriage and cross beam are fitted with high-efficiency motors featuring

Dual Drive technology. This solution delivers high force for the heaviest operations by using the power of both motors pushing at full capacity in the same direction. For high-precision operations, the preload is increased automatically to achieve the highest level of accuracy. The Dual Drive system uses less energy than linear motors and needs no dedicated cooling system.

The ultrasonic cutting head cuts honeycomb materials without tearing or chipping them. It is handled like any ordinary tool and is stored in the standard tool magazine.

A countersink inspection head, managed automatically by the CNC control, checks the actual position of the hole on the workpiece before countersinking.

The head detects the actual position of the holes on the workpiece, using either a contact system or a 3-point laser, to establish their exact coordinates before countersinking. Compared with a conventional probing cycle, times, and therefore costs, are considerably reduced.

Braking energy is fed back into the mains supply, so none is dissipated in the braking resistor.
