Dynamic, high-precision 5-axis vertical gantry machining centre
Its design rests on carefully considered engineering choices, balancing power and robustness with dynamic capability and a high level of precision. The result is optimum performance in high-speed roughing, semi-finishing and finishing of medium to large parts in steel, light alloys or special composite materials.

Dual Drive motors
Dual Drive motors deliver high force for the heaviest operations by harnessing the power of both motors pushing at full capacity in the same direction. For high-precision operations, the preload is increased automatically to achieve the highest level of accuracy.
The Dual Drive system uses less energy than linear motors and needs no cooling system.
Extremely robust ram
The entire Z-axis assembly is free of components that could intrude into the machining area, as the overall envelope of the ram is no larger than that of the head. This is an advantage when machining deep parts or when movements in confined spaces are required. Movement is provided by two preloaded double-start ball screws, while the ram travels on two sturdy guideways at the rear, connected to the carriage by five guide blocks, all to ensure maximum stability.
Stainless steel working area
The machining area is lined with modular stainless steel panels, which not only stay cleaner but also remain practically unchanged over time, even under constant exposure to dust and chips.
Tool changer built into the column, or rotary tool magazine
The Matrix E2 can be fitted with different types of magazine, all of which interface seamlessly with the new, even more compact and faster tool changer. This approach has allowed us to make the column as rigid as possible while leaving scope to extend or modify the magazine in future should requirements change.
Optimised maintenance
The hydraulic and pneumatic units of the Matrix E2 are grouped compactly and neatly in a dedicated area to make diagnostics and maintenance easier. The upper section, which is modular and upgradeable, is ready for any future expansion of the machine with new accessories and/or automation.
For cleanliness and safety, the lower part of the panel houses a dedicated fluid collection tray, so that no polluting liquid escapes into the environment.
Available with a positioning table
Like other Breton products, the Matrix E2 is available as an option with a wide range of rotary tables that can be built into the base. This allows combined milling operations on cylindrical components or complex geometries.
